I was very impressed with myself, as I firstly managed to see something through the binoculars (which was a big black bird) which I then identified in the book that the centre had lent us (along with binoculars) as a comorant. But when I told the person in centre (on returning the borrowed gear) they went "ugh - flithy birds!".
It was really good though, as they have these rucsacs done up for kids with binoculars, books, some laminated information sheets on different types of leaves, different animal tracks, different types of poo etc, and the kids thought it was great locating and identifying deer prints and rabbit poo, in amongst the human prints and numerous dog ones.
